BRIDGE RECONSTRUCTION BEGINS THURSDAY ON HIGHWAY 50 BRIDGE OVER HIGHWAY 52 IN HAMPTON (Roseville, Minn.) - Redecking of the Highway 50 bridge carrying traffic over Highway 52 in Hampton begins Thursday morning, April 5th. Work begins with removal of half of the existing bridge deck. (The bridge deck will be replaced half at a time). During the removal, Highway 52 beneath the bridge will close and traffic will detour up and down the ramps at Highway 50. Throughout the project, Highway 50 traffic will be restricted to a single lane of traffic across the bridge controlled by a signal. Traffic on Highway 52 will also be restricted to a single lane in each direction for the duration of work. As an added safety feature for workers and motorists, an overheight sensor will detect trucks too tall to travel beneath the falsework used to rebuild the structure. If an electronic beam is broken, a warning horn will sound and a sign will instruct trucks to detour up and down the ramps. Weather permitting, the entire bridge will be completed by mid-August. **A second project to resurface Highway 52 in the area begins in early May with a completion date of mid-August. We're in the Work Zone Together |
