Final Report (14 MB PDF)

Study Description
Following the 2011 spring floods that forced the closure of Highways 41 and 101 and threatened closures of other Twin Cities Metro roadways, MnDOT Metropolitan District began a study to investigate options to reduce the effects of road closures caused by seasonal flooding in the Minnesota River Valley.

The goal of the study is to determine capital improvements that will minimize roadway closures and/or add capacity during floods. Potential improvements will likely focus on elevating roadway profiles at Hwy 41 and Hwy 101, and adding capacity at Hwy 169.

The study’s findings will be used to pursue flood mitigation funding.
