Images of Highway 55 Construction

The new bridge carrying Highway 55 (Hiawatha Avenue) traffic over Lake Street in Minneapolis, opened to traffic on Tuesday morning, July 27, 1999. The road, which is a main commuter route to and from downtown Minneapolis, carries approximately 30,000 vehicles a day.

Work continues on ramps between Hiawatha Ave. and Lake Street in Minneapolis. This view is of the new Hiawatha Ave. bridge over Lake Street looking west.
