About the Study

 

Noise testing was done during the fall of 2004 on forty-one Minnesota pavement sections of various surface types/texture. The tests were conducted using a 'close-proximity' trailer capable of measuring only the tire/pavement interaction noise levels. Other sources of traffic noise not quantified in this study include aerodynamic and power train/exhaust contributions.
