National Library Week is an annual event sponsored by the American Library Association in which libraries across the country take the opportunity to highlight the benefits and value they provide to their organizations and patrons.
In honor of National Library Week, MnDOT Library will host an open house on Wednesday, May 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year’s theme is “Communities Matter @ Your Library.”
We invite visitors to learn about the partners we work with every day to provide the most timely, direct, and cost-effective connections to the information you need. Some of these partners include state and federal agencies, local library consortia, the University of Minnesota, other transportation organizations, and our own Research Services staff.
In the field of transportation, our library is a proud member of the Transportation Library Connectivity & Development Pooled Fund Study, TPF-5(237), and the Midwest Transportation Knowledge Network (MTKN), which give our agency access to data and information resources and best practices from many other state DOTs, University Transportation Centers, and corporate libraries. These networks enhance our ability to share information in partnership with other states to better solve transportation challenges, improve the safety of our infrastructure, and better serve the public. TKNs also help states combine and leverage resources to provide access to information by subscription and develop products at the state, regional, and national level in partnership with other agencies.
We encourage you to visit MnDOT Library during the open house and learn about services and resources to help you save time and cut costs in your work. If you’re not able to join us in person, check out our website or ask us a question!
