ITS Careers Video
By Anne Shelley
Now posted on the MnDOT Library website is a new video produced by the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Institute at the University of Minnesota. The video outlines rewarding and cutting-edge career options related to transportation technology.
In the video, MnDOT engineers, project managers, and researchers are interviewed, along with University of Minnesota faculty and students. They describe exciting opportunities for engineers, statisticians, and computer scientists who have an interest in using technology in innovative and productive ways. The video also highlights ITS-related projects that are helping to move Minnesota forward, such as bus rapid transit, MnPASS, variable message signs, mobile notifications, in-vehicle head-up displays, lane guidance, and the SMART-Signal system.
The major goals of ITS are to save us time by reducing congestion and to improve transportation safety through the strategic use of cameras, sensors, and advanced communications. ITS helps our nation’s transportation systems run smoothly, which helps our economy and our environment, and improves our well-being.
