Everything provided at this site, or by link from this site, is public information.

Most documents made available here cover the time period from the early 1960s to August 1, 2007.

Documents created after August 1, 2007, are reviewed under the National Transportation Safety Board Regulations which cover the materials developed by the investigation into the causes of the collapse. Investigatory materials are not contained in this Web site, because the NTSB regulations 49CFR 831.13 (b) do not permit them to be public

 

Mn/DOT has created these pages to respond to data practices requests for in-depth information about Bridge 9340. 1: EDMS Electronic Document Management Systems

Mn/DOT has scanned, profiled and classified all paper files about Bridge 9340, including archived records. The system is not able to eliminate duplicates; therefore, there may be many duplicates of individual documents.

2: Photographic images of Bridge 9340

Mn/DOT took aerial and ground digital images of the collapsed bridge beginning on August 1, 2007. Some photos are being used to document the recovery efforts and for the investigation, and they may be restricted by the National Transportation Safety Board, which controls access to the site and the investigation.

Certain very large files of high resolution are not possible to provide here, and may be restricted by NTSB regulations. Please contact Mn/DOT’s Data Practices Compliance Officer, Barbara Forsland for further information about accessing very large files.

Instructions for accessing photographic files:

Images can be downloaded directly from the I-35WBridge photos Web site . All images are reduced in size to 5 MB or less. To download to your local computer, right click on the image and save to your desired location.

3: E-files

E-files related to the design, construction, maintenance or inspection of Bridge 9340 have been collected and reviewed to ensure that they do not contain information which is not public under the guidelines of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act .

Instructions for accessing e-files:

Click here to access the e-files. Documents are posted to the site in batches as they are reviewed for data practices status. E-files are grouped by office and name. Clicking on a link will open a zipped file and you may download the entire folder, or download the specific documents you need.

4: Mn/DOT e-mails

E-mail messages related to the design, construction, maintenance or inspection of Bridge 9340 have been collected and are being reviewed to ensure that they do not contain information which is private under the guidelines of the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and NTSB regulations.

5: Physical Artifacts

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has preserved the structural members of Bridge 9340.  Some Bridge 9340 structural members are maintained under National Transportation Safety Board authority and are currently closed to outside review.

6: Computer Aided Design Drawings
