Project Description

In 1996, Dakota County, a rural county just south of St. Paul, had the majority of its public transport needs met by DARTS - Dakota Area Resources and Transportation for Seniors. In 1996, the 25-vehicle system provided dial-a-ride services to seniors and people with disabilities, and the general public community circulator service in limited areas.

DARTS was the test site for an USDOT field operational test designed to measure the benefits of advanced technologies to Para-transit service providers. Computer assisted dispatch and scheduling using the Trapeze Quo Vadis software was installed. Mobile Data Terminals and Automatic Vehicle Location devices were installed.
