Is the project on schedule?

Yes.

 

Will all lanes and ramps be open for winter?

Yes, all lanes and ramps will be open during the winter.

 

Can trucks use I-35 during the Mega project?

Yes, except when lanes are restricted on Thompson Hill (Boundary Avenue to Central Avenue), trucks may use I-35. It is anticipated that lanes will be restricted on I-35 from May – October 2010. During that time period, trucks may use I-35 south of Boundary Avenue and north of Central Avenue. Trucks entering and leaving Duluth during this period will need to follow the designated and signed detour on Midway Road (Co 13), Hwys 194 and 53.

 

Is I-35 going to be closed and detoured?

No, at least one lane in each direction on I-35 will be open to traffic at all times.

 

When is I-35 going to be extended to the Expressway?

There are no plans to extend I-35 beyond 26th Avenue East.

 

Will all lanes be open on major weekends?

No, with the bridges being replaced, it will not be possible to open all lanes on weekends.

 

Are you going to fix the visibility problem with the railings in the Can of Worms (especially southbound Hwy 53 to Southbound I-35) when merging?

No, geometric changes are being made in the “Can of Worms” (jct Hwy 53, I-35 and I-535) interchange at this time. However, a study is in process to determine future plans for this interchange. Major work in this interchange is anticipated after 2020.

 

Are you going to fix the bad bump on southbound I-35 in the middle lane going up Thompson Hill?

Yes, this concrete pavement will be removed and replaced
