MN/DOT UTILIZING EXTRA LAW ENFORCEMENT ON HIGHWAY 7 TO KEEP MOTORISTS OFF OF CLOSED HIGHWAYWillmar, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation reminds motorists that Highway 7 between Hutchinson and Silver Lake is closed to through traffic. Due to the critical need to provide a safe work zone for area residents and workers, Mn/DOT is utilizing extra law enforcement to monitor the work zone. Increased reports of through-trip travelers going around barricades and vandalism to new concrete has prompted Mn/DOT to utilize law enforcement to keep motorists from going around barricades. Mn/DOT will continue to provide access to local residents and businesses only. Highway crews are present and Mn/DOT advises that local residents slow down, observe traffic signs and give highway crews plenty of room to work. Driving too fast, following too close and stopping suddenly are the major causes of crashes in work zones. According to Mn/DOT officials, highway crews will continue working until adverse weather conditions no longer permit construction. Mn/DOT thanks area residents, businesses and motorists for their continued patience. See ORANGE. We’re in the WORK ZONE Together |
