HIGHWAY 71/23 OPENS NORTH OF WILLMAR

Motorists advised to use caution during removal of traffic control barriers

Willmar, Minn. B The southbound lanes of Highway 71/23 north of Willmar will be open to traffic on Friday (August 20); however, motorists in the northbound lane will experience minor delays as highway crews remove traffic control barriers, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation office in Willmar.

Mn/DOT advises motorists to use caution in this area and to watch for workers and equipment. During the next few weeks, highway crews will still be present in the area completing turf establishment and motorists are advised to use caution when crews are present.

Mn/DOT=s work zone safety campaign, ASee Orange. We=re in the Work Zone Together@ emphasizes the safety partnership between motorists and highway workers. According to Mn/DOT officials, a few crashes were reported in the work zone. Mn/DOT commends motorists for adhering to safety precautions and thanks area residents, businesses and motorists for their patience during this project.

The southbound lanes had been closed since June 15 to complete new concrete paving and the installation of turn lanes between junction Highway 294 and the north junction Highway 23 near Eagle Lake.
