Paving to Begin on Highway 71/23 North of Willmar Local Access Will be
Affected
Willmar, Minn. – Access to local businesses and homes along southbound Highway 71/23 north of Willmar will be affected, weather permitting, beginning Tuesday (July 6) as crews begin paving the southbound lanes of Highway 71/23, according to officials at the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The first access to be affected is the Harrison Garage Road. It will be necessary to close the junction during paving and concrete cure time. Motorists are advised to watch for signs that will divert local traffic to County Road 25. Mn/DOT will alternate the opening and closing of junctions along Highway 71/23 so that access is maintained for residents and local businesses during paving. Mn/DOT anticipates that the project will be completed by August 1.
Mn/DOT reminds motorists to drive the speed limit - fines double in work zones. Driving too fast, following too close and stopping suddenly are the major causes of crashes in work zones.
Duininck, Bros., Prinsburg, Minn., is the prime contractor for the $2.8 million project.
