Highway 40 and Highway 212 projects completed
The Highway 40 and Highway 212 pavement projects in Lac qui Parle County will be completed by the end of today.
The Highway 40 project included the resurfacing of Highway 40 from the Minnesota/South Dakota state line to the junction of Highway 119. The project did not include the portion of Highway 40 through the town of Madison.
The Highway 212 project included the resurfacing of Highway 212 from the Minnesota/South Dakota state line to the junction of Highway 75.
Due to cold weather, temporary striping will remain in place until next spring when permanent striping can be completed. The temporary striping on these two projects includes glass beads to assist with nighttime reflectivity.
Project benefits include a smoother road surface, as well as extending the pavement life. The cost of both projects is $4.2 million. Knife River was the contractor.
