MnDOT opens additional roads in southern Minnesota
WILLMAR, Minn. — Recent rains have caused flooding and roads to close in southern Minnesota locations. Hwy 14 from Tracy to Walnut Grove is now open except for a small section in the town of Tracy which has a small detour. Hwy 59 has been opened to truck traffic only.
The following roads are still closed:
- Hwy 59 at 191st Street near Lake Shetek – open to truck traffic only
Motorists should be aware, and drive with caution in southern Minnesota as many roads are still under water.
MnDOT is currently assessing the situation and will provide updates, including road closures, as information becomes available.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation warns motorists that driving through water is dangerous. Vehicles can be swept away in only several inches of moving water. Motorists are encouraged to check www.511mn.org for the latest road information.
