Hwy 19 Marshall to Vesta project complete
WILLMAR, Minn. — Work on the Hwy 19 Marshall to Vesta project wrapped up Saturday, June 2, 2018 with the application of permanent striping. The project, which included the resurfacing of Hwy 19 from Hwy 23 in Marshall to the west junction of Hwy 67 north of Vesta, was complete in the fall of 2017 except for the application of a seal coat and permanent striping.
Hwy 19 was a cold-in play recycle (CIR) project which consisted of milling up in place pavement, crushing the materials, adding oil, remixing it, and re-laying the materials with a paver and compacting it.
A CIR is cost effective and environmentally friendly because it recycles existing materials and reduces trucking by not having to remove the materials from the roadway while limiting the new materials that need to be hauled in.
Duininck Inc. was the contractor on the project.
