Public invited to US 71 North project open house on Sept. 14
WILLMAR, Minn. – The first open house for the 2018 US 71 North project is set for Thursday, Sept. 14 at the Cross Roads Community United Methodist Church (3400 113th Ave. in Spicer, MN). The open house will run from 4:30-6:30 pm. Community members are invited to come anytime between 4:30 and 6:30 pm. There will not be a formal presentation. The public will have the opportunity to learn more about the project, timeline and detour.
MnDOT will be resurfacing US 71 from the junction of Highway 23 to just north of Highway 9 (less than ½ mile) in Kandiyohi County. In addition to the resurfacing project, MnDOT will construct left and right turning lanes, a bypass lane and a pedestrian underpass (as part of a DNR trail extension from New London to Sibley State Park) on the same stretch of road. The project will require a detour due to the extensive resurfacing work and other components of the project. Construction is expected to begin spring of 2018.
For those unable to attend the public open house information is available on the project visit the webpage at www.dot.state.mn.us/d8/projects/us71north.
