Hwy 52 ramp closure in Rochester begins Oct. 11 during Broadway roadwork
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists using the southbound Highway 52 exit ramp to go northbound on Broadway (Hwy 63) in Rochester will be detoured for approximately two weeks while the city of Rochester completes work on Broadway north of the interchange, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The detour will take motorists south on Hwy 63 to the 40th Street exit, where motorists can cross over and return north on Hwy 63 (Broadway) into Rochester. Traffic will be narrowed to one lane north of the Hwy 52/Hwy 63 interchange, because the city of Rochester is constructing of a traffic signal intersection at Broadway and Third Avenue Southeast. Information on the city’s project can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/hvaohm2
Motorists at the highway interchange can expect lane closures to continue through October as crews paint the bridges over Highway 63. Future lane closures will also affect southbound Highway 63 as painting work progresses.
Detours remain in place. Traffic is expected to resume on both bridges on Oct. 24, weather permitting.
The $4.2 million project is replacing the Highway 52 bridge decks over Highway 63 and connecting Highway 52 north’s third lane to the bridge. The prime contractor is Zenith Tech, Inc., of Waukesha, Wis. Overall, the project is expected to be completed by Nov. 3. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
