Orange barrels on a highway

Hwy 19 project begins Monday, June 6

WILLMAR, Minn. –Highway 19 (from the South Dakota border to Ivanhoe and Highway 19 from Lyon County Road 5 to Lyon County Road 7) will be resurfaced this summer.  Construction is scheduled to begin June 6 and finish in July of 2016. 

This project includes a two week detour to replace two culverts.  The paving portion of the project will be done under traffic utilizing alternating lane closures and flaggers with a pilot car.

Detour Route

  • Traveling west from Ivanhoe:  south at the junction of Highway 19/Highway 75, west on Lincoln County Road 16 and north on Lincoln County Road 1.
  • Traveling east to Ivanhoe:  south on Lincoln County Road 1, east on Lincoln County Road 16 and north on Highway 75, east on Highway 19.

MnDOT asks motorists to slow down and pay attention while driving through work zones.  Remember orange cones, no phones.  Motorists who speed through a work zone or who disobey work zone flaggers face a $300 fine.
