Orange barrels on a highway

Bridge maintenance scheduled to begin week of June 27 in west central and southwest Minnesota

WILLMAR, Minn. – Bridge maintenance work in various locations in west central and southwest Minnesota is scheduled to begin the week of June 27. The work, which includes cleaning and sealing cracks on the decks and railings of bridges, will be complete by late July.

The bridge maintenance preserves and extends the life of bridges by removing and protecting bridges from chlorides that can deteriorate bridges.

Work will be done under traffic by closing one lane at a time on the bridges. Motorists should be prepared for short delays as a flagging operation will be used to allow traffic over each bridge one direction at a time.

MnDOT asks motorists to slow down and pay attention while driving through work zones. Motorists who speed through a work zone or who disobey work zone flaggers’ traffic directions face a $300 fine. Remember, orange cones, no phones.
