Orange barrels on a highway

Hwy 23/71 (Willmar Bypass) project begins Sept. 9

WILLMAR, Minn. — Motorists may encounter delays when the Highway 23/71 tension cable guardrail project from 15th Street SW to Kandiyohi County Road 90 north of Willmar begins Wednesday, Sept. 9, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The project consists of placing a high tension cable barrier in the median to help reduce the number of fatal or serious injury accidents.

H&R Construction of Dalton, Minnesota is the contractor for the $676,000 project, which is scheduled for completion November 1, weather permitting.

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
