Hwy 71 resurfacing project in Willmar begins Aug. 1
Willmar, Minn. – Motorists may encounter minor delays when crews begin work on the Hwy 71 project from Hwy 7 to Hwy 23 south of Willmar on Thursday, Aug. 1. Crews will begin work on the bridges over the Willmar Bypass and then begin resurfacing Hwy 71 approximately mid-August.
The project consists of a bituminous mill and overlay, turn lane construction and bridge approach panel repair.
Crews will begin construction on Hwy 71 north of Willmar from Kandiyohi County Road 24 to the Hwy 71 and Hwy 23 split north of Willmar beginning Monday, August 5. The project consists of a bituminous overlay and turn lane construction.
Duininck Inc. from Prinsburg is the prime contractor for the nearly $3.4 project. Completion is scheduled for the end of October, weather permitting.
Motorists will experience a smoother and safer road surface when the entire project is complete.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, and reminds them to slow down in the work zone and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
