Hwy 4 detour in Cosmos expands on June 6
Second stage of project set to begin on the south side of Highway 7
WILLMAR, Minn. — Motorists will encounter a larger detour area on Highway 4 in Cosmos as stage two of the project begins on June 6, weather permitting. Crews will begin work on the south side of Highway 7 to the south fork of the Crow River.
Stage one of the project consisted of construction on Highway 4 from Highway 7 to Northern Cross Avenue and included East Gemini Avenue. The reconstruction includes grading, paving, sidewalk construction, watermain replacement, sewer construction, landscaping and installation of pedestrian accessible ramps and signals.
The $4.48 million project received a $1.96 million Better Roads grant awarded as part of the Transportation, Community, and System Preservation Program.
Reiner Contracting is the contractor and the project will provide a safer and more reliable highway for residents, pedestrians and motorists.
Motorists should always drive with caution, slowdown in work zones and never enter a road or lane blocked with barriers or cones.
