Open house for Hwy 19 construction from Marshall to Ivanhoe set for April 29

WILLMAR, Minn. – Area residents are invited to attend an open house on Monday, April 29 to learn more about the Highway 19 construction projects and detour. The meeting will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Marshall MnDOT office, 1800 East College Drive, Marshall.

Construction on Highway 19 is tentatively scheduled from May to August and includes two separate projects that will be constructed concurrently in order to minimize overall impacts on motorists.

The eastern portion of the project, from County Road 7 to Fourth Street in Marshall, will require a detour. Crews will remove and replace three inches of pavement and conduct repairs on the historic bridge over the Redwood River.

The $1.65 Million project will provide a smoother, safer road and bridge surface.

Construction on the western portion of the project will remove two inches of pavement and replace it with 1.5 inches of new pavement from Lyon County Road 75 to Ivanhoe. Work will also include grading, guardrail repair, culvert replacement and the sidewalk curb ramps in Ivanhoe will be reconstructed to meet current standards.

The cost of the project is $2.32 Million and motorists can expect delays as flaggers and a pilot car help to control traffic.

Duininck Inc. is the contractor for both projects.
