Public invited to Hwy 23 and Hwy 75 construction information meeting May 2

Projects route through Pipestone, Ihlen, Jasper and Trosky

WILLMAR, Minn. — The public is encouraged to attend an informational meeting regarding construction on Highway 23 from Pipestone to I-90, which includes a detour, and Highway 75 near Trosky. The meeting will be held Thursday, May 2, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Memorial Hall Meeting Room, 105 Wall Street East, Jasper.

The Highway 23 project is split into two segments. The northern segment, from Pipestone to Jasper, will remove and replace the top three inches of pavement and be done under traffic using flaggers and a pilot car.

The southern segment, from Jasper to I-90, will remove the existing pavement and replace it with a drainable base and six inches of concrete.  The detour is east on I-90, north on Highway 75, west on Rock County Road 12 and Pipestone County Road 1.

The Highway 23 projects are scheduled from May to July, weather permitting, and will provide a smoother and safer ride for motorists. The project cost for the Pipestone segment is $4.4 Million and the I-90 segment is $10 Million.

Two culverts on Highway 75, south of Trosky, will be replaced in the fall and require a detour from August to November, weather permitting. The detour follows west on Rock County Road 12 and Pipestone County Road 1, north on County Road 15, east on County Road 2.

The Highway 75 safety enhancements cost $1.05 Million. They will improve drainage and provide a safer road surface for motorists.

Duininck Inc. is the contractor for all three projects.
