Ribbon cutting ceremony for the Hwy 23 Paynesville Bypass set for Aug. 23
WILLMAR, Minn. – The city of Paynesville will host a ribbon cutting event on Aug. 23 to celebrate the completion of the Hwy 23 Paynesville Bypass. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the Paynesville American Legion, 770 W. Business Hwy 23.
The new bypass opened on Friday, July 20, more than a month ahead of schedule. Motorists traveling east on Hwy 23 now access Paynesville on Veterans Drive, formerly known as First Street, and westbound access remains the same.
KGM Contractors Inc. constructed the 7.7-mile, four-lane divided bypass, which is located north of New London from Kandiyohi County Road 6 to west of 263rd Avenue in Paynesville. Work included grading, paving, constructing eight bridges and lighting.
The Hwy 23 Paynesville Bypass will improve mobility and safety for motorists traveling along the Hwy 23 corridor and allows Hwy 23 to remain an important connection between Willmar and St. Cloud.
