Hwy 212 opens between Hwy 4 and Hwy 15 beginning Sept. 22
Road closes between Hwy 15 and Hwy 22 for final stage of resurfacing project
WILLMAR, Minn. – Hwy 212 will open to traffic between Hwy 4 and Hwy 15 beginning Thursday, Sept. 22. However, motorists will encounter a detour on Hwy 212 from Hwy 15 west of Brownton to Hwy 22 beginning Friday, Sept. 23, as crews begin the third stage of the resurfacing project.
The new detour goes south on Hwy 15, east on McLeod County Road 17, continue east on Sibley County Road 15, north on Hwy 22 and then back to Hwy 212.
All work is expected to be complete by mid-November, weather permitting.
The 28-mile project extends from Renville County Road 16 west of Hector to the start of the four-lane highway west of Glencoe.

During construction and road maintenance work, the Minnesota Department of Transportation urges drivers to:
- Stay alert, expect the unexpected. Be patient.
- Never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
- Plan ahead and expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Don’t use cell phones while driving.
- Remember text messaging while driving is illegal.
- Follow posted speed limits; fines double in work zones.
