Area Transportation Partnership seeks applications for federal funding

 

WILLMAR, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota Area Transportation Partnership is seeking applications for 2016 transportation enhancement projects eligible for federal funding in Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, McLeod, Meeker, Murray, Pipestone, Redwood, Renville and Yellow Medicine counties. Projects require a 20 percent cash match.

 

Project applications are available by contacting Donn Winckler, Mid-Minnesota Regional Development Commission, at 320-235-8504 ext 225 or donn.winckler@mmrdc.org.

 

The deadline for applications is Oct. 17 to local Regional Development Commissions for preliminary review and comment.

 

Final applications are due Nov. 18 and can be sent to Winckler at the Mid-Minnesota Regional Development Commission, 333 SW Sixth St., Suite 2, Willmar, MN 56201.

 

Eligible transportation enhancement projects include:

  1. Provision of facilities for pedestrians and bicycles
  2. Provision of safety and educational activities
  3. Acquisition of scenic easements and scenic or historic sites
  4. Scenic or historic highway programs
  5. Landscaping and other scenic beautification
  6. Historic preservation of a transportation related structure
  7. Rehabilitation and operation of historic buildings, structures or facilities
  8. Establishment of transportation museums
  9. Preservation of abandoned railroad corridors
  10. Control and removal of outdoor advertising
  11. Archaeological planning and research
  12. Mitigation of water pollution due to highway runoff
