UPDATE: Hwy 212 resurfacing project from Hector to Glencoe begins May 23
WILLMAR, Minn. - Motorists will encounter a detour on Hwy 212 from Hector to Glencoe as a resurfacing project begins May 23. The project—originally scheduled to begin May 16—is delayed due to load restrictions on Renville and McLeod county roads.
Current load restrictions on the local roads are not suitable for hauling operations.
The 28.3-mile resurfacing project extends from Renville County Road 16 west of Hector to the start of the four-lane highway west of Glencoe.
Pending lifted road restrictions, Hwy 212 traffic will detour north on Renville County Road 16, east on Renville County Road 11 and McLeod County Road 18, south on Hwy 15 and then back to Hwy 212.
This detour is expected to remain in place through July. The entire project will be detoured in three stages and is scheduled for completion in early November, weather permitting.
