Hwy 23 Paynesville Bypass public information meetings resume May 5

WILLMAR, Minn. - Public information meetings for the Hwy 23 Paynesville four-lane bypass project will resume Thursday, May 5, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said. Meetings will be held every other Thursday at 1 p.m., at the Paynesville American Legion, 770 W State Hwy 23, in Paynesville.

Mn/DOT staff and representatives from KGM Contractors, Inc., will provide progress reports, plans for upcoming construction activities and answer questions or address concerns.

Construction work on the three-year project, which began in April 2010, had slowed for the winter. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2012.

The 7.5-mile, four-lane divided bypass project is located north of New London, from Kandiyohi County Road 6 to west of 263rd Avenue in Paynesville, and includes grading, paving, construction of eight bridges and lighting.

The project will improve mobility and safety for motorists traveling along the Hwy 23 corridor and allows Hwy 23 to remain an important connection between Willmar and St. Cloud.
