New speed limit signs and solar powered beacons improve safety on Highway 4 near Atwater Cosmos Grove City High School
WILLMAR, Minn. —New signs with solar powered flashing beacons have been installed on Highway 4 near the Atwater Cosmos Grove City (ACGC) High School in Grove City according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The signs identify a school speed limit of 35 miles per hour within the school zone when the beacon lights are flashing during the opening and closing hours of the school day: 7:40 a.m.–8:20 a.m. and 3:45 p.m.–4:10 p.m.
The new beacons and signs will increase the safety of students who commute to school using Highway 4.
The school speed limit was activated on Dec. 7. Mn/DOT encourages motorists to obey the school speed limit signs and be aware that fines increase for school speed limit violations.
