Highway 23 project from Russell to Marshall scheduled for completion Oct. 13
Four-lane traffic on Highway 23 between Marshall and Lynd will resume Oct. 13
WILLMAR, Minn. —The Highway 23 resurfacing project from Russell to Marshall is scheduled for completion on Oct. 13.
Four-lane traffic on Highway 23 between Marshall and Lynd will resume on Oct. 13. Traffic had been restricted during paving, shoulder work, striping and landscaping since early May.
Traffic signals at the junction of Highway 23 and Highway 19 and the junction of Highway 23 and Highway 59 will also be fully functional on Oct 13.
The 12-mile resurfacing project on Highway 23 from Russell to one-half mile north of Highway 19 in Marshall began on May 3 and consisted of resurfacing the two-lane and four-lane segments along Highway 23 and included installation of storm sewer, sidewalk, signals and lighting.
Some minor off-road work including lighting, striping, seeding and clean-up will continue after Oct.13.
The project benefits include reduced maintenance costs and improved pavement strength.
In conjunction with the project, the city of Marshall constructed a pedestrian underpass, sidewalk, retaining walls, storm sewer and lighting north of Highway 19 near Southwest Minnesota State University and the Marshall High School. Remaining work on the pedestrian underpass includes installation of a decorative fence.
