Update: Northbound lane closure on Highway 71/23 near Civic Center Drive in Willmar extended to Oct. 25
Westbound lane closure begins Oct. 11
WILLMAR, Minn. —Motorists will encounter a lane closure change on the northbound lane of the Highway 71/23 four-lane bypass near Civic Center Drive in Willmar Oct. 11.
Traffic will be diverted to the east side of the northbound lane while Mn/DOT crews continue a bridge approach panel replacement project. Motorists had been diverted to the west side of the northbound lane since Sept. 13.
Signing will direct motorists where the lanes go from two to one lane. The speed limit is reduced to 40 mph through the work zone. Motorists are asked to slow down, drive with caution through the area and watch for crews working.
The project is scheduled for completion Oct. 25, weather permitting.
The purpose of the project is to improve ride for motoring public and reduce the impact of heavier loads approaching and exiting the bridge deck.
