Bridge panel replacement project begins in Willmar Sept. 13
Motorists heading north on the Highway 71, Highway 23 bypass will encounter a lane closure near Civic Center Drive
WILLMAR, Minn. —One of the northbound lanes of the Highway 71, Highway 23 bypass near Civic Center Drive in Willmar will close on Monday, Sept. 13 as crews begin a bridge approach panel replacement project. The lane closure will remain in place until Oct. 11, weather permitting.
Motorists are advised to follow posted signs and reduce speed to 40 miles per hour through the work zone.
The completed project will provide a smoother and improved ride for motorists and accommodate heavier truck loads on bridge approaches.
During construction and road maintenance work, the Minnesota Department of Transportation urges drivers to:
- Drive with caution, watch for signs and be alert for workers in the work zone.
- Never enter a road that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
- Minimize distractions.
- Don’t use cell phones while driving and remember text messaging while driving is illegal.
- Be patient.
