Detour on Highway 75 in Madison begins Aug. 30
WILLMAR, Minn. — Motorists will encounter a detour on Highway 75 in Madison from 1st Street to 9th Street on Monday, Aug. 30, as crews from the city of Madison begin a utility improvement project to install sanitary sewer pipe liners.
Highway 75 traffic will be detoured on city streets at Highway 40. Motorists heading north on Highway 75 will be detoured east on Highway 40, north on 1st Avenue, west on Lac qui Parle County Road 22 and back to Highway 75. Southbound Highway 75 traffic will follow the same detour in reverse. [detour map]
The project is expected to be completed on Sept. 3, weather permitting.
During construction and road maintenance work, Mn/DOT urges drivers to:
- Stay alert, expect the unexpected.
- Don’t use cell phones while driving and remember text messaging while driving is illegal.
- Follow posted speed limits; fines double in work zones.
- Plan ahead and expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
