Lane closures on Hwy 4 south of Paynesville begin Aug. 9
Motorists will encounter lane closures on Highway 4 south of Paynesville as crews begin a bridge joint repair project on Aug. 9. The highway will be reduced to one lane in each direction during the project.
Signing will direct motorists to stop and take turns where the lanes go from two to one lane. The lane closures will remain in place until the work is completed on Aug. 30, weather permitting.
The routine repair project helps preserve the structural integrity of the bridge and will provide a smoother ride for the traveling public.

During construction and road maintenance work, Mn/DOT urges drivers to:
- Drive with caution, watch for signs and be alert for workers in the work zone
- Never enter a road that has been blocked with barriers or cones
- Minimize distractions
- Don’t use cell phones while driving and remember text messaging while driving is illegal
- Be patient
