Highway 23, Highway 71 open house planned for July 29 in Willmar
WILLMAR, Minn. – The public is invited to an open house on Thursday, July 29, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building, Multipurpose Room, at 220 23rd Street NE, Willmar, to discuss future improvements to the 3.5-mile common section of Highway 23 and Highway 71, from north of the Highway 23/Highway 71/Highway 294 split to the Highway 23/Highway 71 split near Eagle Lake.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is completing preliminary design work and preparing an Environmental Impact Statement to assess the potential impacts related to the proposed improvements. Completion of the EIS will allow Mn/DOT and local agencies to program improvements in the corridor. No funding or construction timeframe has been established.
Attendees will have an opportunity to review the preliminary layout and learn more about the anticipated impacts. Staff from Mn/DOT and the consultant SEH, Inc., will be available to discuss the preliminary layout of the preferred alternative, the environmental impact findings and answer questions.
