Traffic delays at Cemetery Road in Paynesville begin June 14

WILLMAR, Minn. - Motorists will encounter minor delays on Cemetery Road between Liberty Street and Airport Road in Paynesville beginning Monday, June 14, as earth moving equipment crosses Cemetery Road to haul materials for the Highway 23 bypass project.

Motorists will encounter a road closure, also part of the Highway 23 bypass project, on Lake Avenue North in Paynesville from Minnie Street to 185th Street. Lake Avenue North will remain closed until fall 2010. Stearns County Road 33 and Stearns County Road 130 will remain open for traffic to access 185th Street.

The 7.5-mile, four-lane divided bypass project is located north of New London, from Kandiyohi County Road 6 to west of 263rd Avenue in Paynesville and includes grading, paving, construction of eight bridges and lighting.

The project will improve mobility and safety for motorists traveling along the Highway 23 corridor and allows Highway 23 to remain an important connection between Willmar and St. Cloud.
