Update: Highway 212 between Montevideo and Wegdahl to open at approximately 1 p.m.
Detour will be lifted

WILLMAR, Minn.- (12:00 p.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol report that Highway 212 between Montevideo and Wegdahl will open at approximately 1 p.m. The detour will be lifted.

Highway 212 was closed to traffic since March 22 due to flooding between Montevideo and Wegdahl and the construction of a temporary levy at the intersection of Highway 212 and Highway 29 in Montevideo.

Water has receded from Highway 212 between Montevideo and Wegdahl and the temporary levy has been removed. Motorists are reminded that flooding is difficult to predict and roads may be closed or restricted without warning. Motorists are advised to check road conditions in advance of travel.

One State highway remains closed in southwest Minnesota:
Highway 67 east of the junction with Highway 23 in Granite Falls.

Motorists should plan accordingly. When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
