Update: Highway 14 to close between Tyler and Florence
in SW Minnesota due to flooding
WILLMAR, Minn.- (3:45 p.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol will close Highway 14 between Tyler and Florence in SW Minnesota at approximately 4 p.m. today due to flooding. No unnecessary travel was advised for this area earlier today.
Highway 14 will remain closed until further notice as water levels continue to rise over the highway in that area.
Mn/DOT is advising motorists to avoid the area and find an alternative route.
Motorists should plan accordingly. When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
