TRAVEL ADVISORY: Highway 269 and Highway 14 between Tracy and Garvin are open
WILLMAR, Minn.- (6:30 a.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol opened Highway 269 and Highway 14 between Highway 59 and Highway 71 at approximately 6:00 a.m. The section of Highway 14 and Highway 269 had been closed since Thursday morning due to extremely low visibility caused by blowing snow.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation continues to advise motorists to travel with caution on Highways 14, 19, 30, 67, 212, and 269 in Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Pipestone, and Yellow Medicine counties as roads are snow compacted and slippery with some ground drifting.
Mn/DOT snow plow operators are out in force and will continue to do their part to make our highways safe.
Mn/DOT would like to remind motorists to follow safe winter driving practices as southwestern Minnesota.
Motorists should:
- Stay behind the plow.
- Turn on headlights.
- Always use seat belts.
- Adjust speed to road and weather conditions.
- Avoid using cruise-control.
