Blowing snow makes for hazardous conditions in southwestern Minnesota
WILLMAR, Minn.- (6 a.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation advises motorists not to travel unnecessarily in Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Redwood, Pipestone, and Yellow Medicine counties, due to high winds and blowing snow causing near zero visibility.
No other road closures are anticipated at this time, however, winds are predicted to remain strong for remainder of the today into this evening.
Mn/DOT snow plow operators are out in force and will continue to do their part to make our highways safe.
Mn/DOT would like to remind motorists to follow safe winter driving practices as southwestern Minnesota.
Motorists should:
- Turn on headlights.
- Always use seat belts.
- Adjust speed to road and weather conditions.
- Avoid using cruise-control.
