Highway 7, Montevideo to Clara City, scheduled to open Sept. 18
WILLMAR, Minn. - The 15-mile resurfacing project from Montevideo to Clara City is scheduled to open on Friday, Sept. 18. The detour will be lifted, although motorists may encounter minor delays, including one-lane restrictions, while crews continue to test the pavement and perform final clean up work along the project.
The project was originally scheduled to open on Aug. 28; however, imperfections in the new concrete pavement which could potentially reduce the durability of the surface delayed the opening.
Mn/DOT is using a sophisticated ground penetrating radar system to test the concrete. The data from the testing will be used during the next few months to develop strategies for repair to ensure that the public gets an appropriate return on their investment in this project.
Mn/DOT is sensitive to the concerns of motorists and businesses and thanks them for their patience during the project.
The project, which began in May, was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
