Highway 23 resurfacing project north of New London to begin Sept. 14

WILLMAR, Minn. - Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures as crews begin a resurfacing project on Highway 23, from Kandiyohi County Road 31 north to Kandiyohi County Road 6, on Sept. 14.

Flaggers and a pilot car will direct motorists through the work zone. If motorists enter a roadway from an access road, they must wait for the pilot car and vehicles to pass before entering the lane and must travel in the same direction as the pilot car.

This project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Nearly 100 Minnesota road and bridge projects are funded this year with the $502 million stimulus money.

Knife River Corporation-North Central is the prime contractor for the $1,123,474 project.

The project is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 2, weather permitting.

Mn/DOT urges motorists to plan ahead, watch for signs, flaggers, pilot car, and be alert for workers in the work zone. For updated statewide traffic, construction, weather and travel information, visit www.511mn.org, call 5-1-1 or log on to www.mndot.gov.
