Concrete paving on Hwy 23 north of Marshall begins July 13

Concrete paving is scheduled to begin on Highway 23, north of Marshall, on Monday, July 13, from one mile north of Lyon County Road 33 in Marshall to north of Lyon County Road 24 south of Cottonwood. Nighttime concrete sawing may also occur during the two-week paving operation.

Hwy 23 traffic remains detoured east on Hwy 19/Hwy 68 in Marshall and north on Lyon County Road 9 to Hwy 23; however, residents living along the north portion of the project will be allowed to access their residences by traveling on the shoulders of the highway. Mn/DOT encourages residents to use the closest access possible to eliminate excessive traffic on the shoulders.

The Hwy 23, Marshall to Cottonwood construction project began in May and consists of two segments. The first segment extends the four-lane highway in Marshall from north of Hwy 19 to one mile north of Lyon County Road 33. This segment includes grading, surfacing and lighting.

The second portion of the project includes mill and overlay, passing lanes and lighting, from north of Lyon County Road 33 to Lyon County Road 24 south of Cottonwood.

Mn/DOT urges motorists to plan ahead, watch for detour signs, and be alert for workers in the work zone. For updated statewide traffic, construction, weather and travel information, visit www.511.mn.org, call 5-1-1 or log on to www.mndot.gov.
