Access update for Highway 23 construction, Marshall to Cottonwood

WILLMAR, Minn. - The Minnesota Department of Transportation in Marshall has created a temporary opening on Highway 23 to accommodate heavy commercial truck traffic. The route, from Cottonwood south to Lyon County Road 24, is available until the end of June when the construction project progresses to the north.

Heavy commercial truck traffic using adjacent county roads must follow the county posted load limits. Please contact Lyon County at 507-532-8205 for information on load limits and permits.

There currently are four crossings available to traffic along the Highway 23 project: Lyon County Road 33, south leg of Lyon County Road 8, Lyon County Roads 22 and 24.

Highway 23 traffic remains detoured east on Highway 19/Highway 68 in Marshall and north on Lyon County Road 9 to Highway 23.

Construction on Highway 23 from Marshall to Cottonwood began on May 4 to extend the four lanes in Marshall from north of Highway 19 to Lyon County Road 33 and construct passing lanes near Cottonwood County Road 22 to south of 360th Street. The project also includes a mill and overlay and lighting.
