HIGHWAY 212 OPEN
TO TRAFFIC IN OLIVIA
WILLMAR, Minn.
- The Minnesota Department of Transportation, District 8, announced
today that Highway 212 in the city of Olivia is now open to traffic.
According to
Kelly Brunkhorst, Mn/DOT project engineer, diginitaries from along
the Highway 212 corridor and Mn/DOT opened the highway with a ribbon
cutting at 10:00 a.m. today.
Highway 212
had been closed since May. The Bird Island to Hector portion of
the project was open to traffic on November 13, 2002.
The project
consisted of adding a passing lane, concrete paving, bituminous
shoulders and lighting between the east city limits of Bird Island
to the west city limits of Hector. In the city of Olivia, the highway
was reconstructed and designed with a center left turn lane, on-street
parking and concrete paving. The city also replaced water and sewer
facilities. A mill and bituminous overlay was also included in the
city of Bird Island
Duininck Bros.
was the prime contractor of the $14 million improvement project.

contractors thank motorists and businesses for their patience during
the project.
