Mn/DOT Announces Highway
23 Improvements Between Pipestone & Florence to Pennock Ruthton
to Florence Begins Next Week
WILLMAR, Minn.
- The Minnesota Department of Transportation office in Marshall
announced today that, weather permitting, the Highway 23 mill and
overlay project between Pipestone and Florence will get underway
next week between Ruthton and Florence.
Highway 23 motorists
will be detoured to Pipestone County Road 10, Murray County Road
18 and Highway 91. The detour adds approximately 5.5 miles.
According to Paul Jurek, Mn/DOT project engineer, phase one is from
County Road 10 south of Ruthton to junction Highway 14 near Florence
including the overpass at Highway 14. Weather permitting, phase
one is expected to be complete in August. The prime contractor for
the $2 million project is Central Specialties Inc. of Alexandria.
According to Jurek, the second phase between Pipestone and Ruthton
will be let for bids on June 7. Jurek anticipates that the project
will begin after the July 4th holiday. Weather permitting, phase
two will be complete in November.
Mn/DOT reminds motorists to slow down in work zones and never enter
a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
