OPENS TODAY!
Second of three phases now complete
Willmar,
Minn. - The Minnesota Department of Transportation office in Marshall
announced today that Highway 268 west of Edgerton will open today,
November 21. Mn/DOT anticipates that barricades will be removed
later today.
According to
Paul Jurek, Mn/DOT project engineer, this completes the second phase
of three that are scheduled to improve Highway 268, from Highway
75 to Edgerton. Mn/DOT, along with the city of Edgerton and Pipestone
County, completed the first phase last summer, which consisted of
highway reconstruction utility project in Edgerton. The third and
final phase is a $4 million grading project planned for the summer
of 2004. Upon completion, the highway will be officially turned
over to Pipestone County.
According to
Jurek, crews will still be in the area completing portions of the
project that may cause minor delays. Motorists are reminded to slow
down for their safety and the safety of the workers.
Mn/DOT and project contractors thank motorists, area businesses
and residents for their patience during the project.
Construction
of the bridges began July 12, 2001. The prime contractor for the
$1.2 million bridge improvement project was Duininck Bros. Inc.,
Prinsburg, Minn.
