MOTORISTS ADVISED
OF CHANGES TO WILLMAR BYPASS RAMPS NEXT WEEK
WILLMAR,
Minn. - The Minnesota Department of Transportation office in Willmar
announced today that, weather permitting, traffic entering or exiting
the Highway 71/23 Willmar bypass will be diverted to temporary on/off
ramps beginning the week of September 17.
All junctions to the bypass are affected. The junctions are: Highway
71, Highway 12 and Civic Center Drive. The temporary change is necessary
to complete construction of the new interchanges
Motorists are reminded to slow down for their safety and the safety
of the workers as construction continues. Duininck Bros, Prinsburg,
Minn., is the prime contractor of the road construction. Weather
permitting, the entire project should be completed by early November.
Construction
of the new two lanes began April 24, 2001. An interchange at Willmar
Ave. is also being considered in the near future as a project sponsored
by Kandiyohi County and the city of Willmar.
