Design concepts
Preliminary design concepts for the different project phases. Print the full aerial index map (PDF 6.2 MB).
Phase 1
Narrow the median between County Road 10 and Paul Ave - view/print map (PDF)
- Limits business impacts
- Avoids former Ruder's Dump Property
- Narrow median will use guardrail between the northbound and southbound lanes
- Two different potential alignments for the frontage road shown
Phase 2
Bypass Lake Street - view/print map (PDF)
- Highway 60 will be shifted south of its present alignment in the Lake St. area
- Reduces business impacts
- The existing alignment will remain in place from Flower Lane to past Lake Street, where a connection to the bypass will be built
- South Lake Street will dead-end prior to intersecting Highway 60
- Quine Avenue will have right in right out access to Highway 60
Morningside neighborhood - view/print map (PDF)
- Douglas Street will be extended to connect to Nobles Street
- Provides better access to the neighborhood after Morningside Drive and East Avenue accesses are closed
- Oak Avenue will be extended to connect to County Road 35
- Provides better access to the Morningside neighborhood
Landscaping
- Aesthetic treatments (trees or fence) will be built instead of noise wall
- Aesthetic treatments shown as being preferred to a noise wall at a public meeting
Phase 3
Union Pacific Railroad bridge over Highway 60
- A new, longer bridge will be built in the same location as the existing bridge
First Ave area - view/print map (PDF)
- Spring Street connection to 1st Avenue has been shifted north; 1st Avenue alignment has also been shifted slightly
- Allows more space to fit proposed railroad bridge
Combined Hwy 59, Hwy 60, Oxford Street, County Road 33 roundabout - view/print map (PDF)
- The intersection of these streets will be combined into a two lane roundabout
- This option creates the least amount of traffic delay, while improving safety as well
Armour Road intersection
- This intersection will be rebuilt with a traffic signal
Eastbound I-90 ramps - view/print map (PDF)
- The ramps to I-90 on the south side of the bridge will be brought into a new roundabout
- Allows for easier turn arounds for traffic from Armour Road, as well as slowing traffic coming into the city of Worthington
